Planned, prepared, and designed for two (+1)
Everything is taken care of. Mark will handle the bookings, the driving, the snacks, and the schedule. All you need to bring is yourself and the amigo.
Mandurah, Western Australia
Giant wooden sculptures hidden along Mandurah's coastal trails, followed by dinner at one of two dog + vegetarian friendly restaurants nearby.
Pick up our "Travellers' Companion" booklets from the Eastern Foreshore.
MapsHalls Head. A 1.3km return walk with coastal views. The trail is a bit hilly (Grade 3).
MapsCoodanup. The most paws-friendly walking path, only 550m return on a flat limestone path, right by the Peel Inlet.
MapsWannanup. A 1.2km flat path to a giant sitting by the water, looking out to sea. Beautiful in the late afternoon light.
Finishing before 6pm, since trails aren't lit.
MapsBoth are in Wannanup with dog-friendly alfresco areas, so we can head straight from Seba's Song. Mark will book ahead.
Mandurah Estuary, Western Australia
A self-drive pontoon across Mandurah's estuary. No licence needed, no schedule to keep. Just a wonderful excuse to put Lyla in a life jacket.
About an hour from Perth. Snacks packed for both the drive and the boat.
Quick briefing on the pontoon. No boat licence required — it's a flat, stable sightseeing platform with a canopy for shade.
MapsTwo hours exploring the estuary at our own pace. We can cruise towards the Dawesville Cut, find a quiet spot to drop anchor, and just float for a while.
Dock back at the marina.
A slow walk along the Mandurah boardwalk and a stop at Simmo's for ice cream.
Dwellingup, Western Australia
A winter Sunday through jarrah forest aboard a restored steam locomotive. The train runs May–October only, making this the last adventure in this trio.
About 1.5 hours south to Dwellingup. I'll drive; snacks on the way.
Wander the town before departure. There's a small heritage museum and a few galleries near the station.
MapsThe heritage steam locomotive travels 14km through jarrah forest to Isandra Siding and back. Open-window carriages, green hills rolling by.
MapsTwo excellent options on the same street, both with outdoor seating that's perfect for a dog in a backpack. I'll check what's open on the day.
A gentle stretch along one of the shorter Bibbulmun Track sections near town. Flat, well-maintained, and quiet.
Back to Perth early for a cosy night at home.
Three days. All planned. Nothing for you to organise.
Just say when you'd like each one, and Mark will make it happen.
Happy birthday Amberly. I love you.
